Cabo Marlin Species Guide
Three billfish species, three different seasons — all world-class
Blue Marlin
Striped Marlin

Why Cabo San Lucas is the World's #1 Marlin Fishing Destination
Cabo San Lucas holds a unique geographic distinction: it sits exactly where the cold, nutrient-dense Pacific Ocean collides with the warm, baitfish-rich Sea of Cortez. This convergence zone — just 15–55 miles from the marina — concentrates blue marlin, striped marlin, and black marlin at densities found nowhere else on Earth.
The world-famous Bisbee's Black & Blue Tournament, held every October at Cabo, is the richest billfish tournament on the planet with purses exceeding $4 million. Our own Captain Edward Araujo is a multi-time Bisbee's champion, with a $104,880 win in 2015 and a $120,000 win in 2014. That tournament-level expertise is what you get on every single charter.
Marlin Fishing Season in Cabo San Lucas
- Striped Marlin: December through April. This is Cabo's bread-and-butter marlin during the winter months. Schools of 50–100 marlin are regularly spotted.
- Blue Marlin: June through November, peaking August–October. The big ones — 300–800+ lbs — move through during the warm-water season.
- Black Marlin: May through October. The most powerful of the three species and the least common, making it a true trophy for any angler.
